• Why upgrade to Positive Boost?
  • Upgrading gives you two great features that make your experience on Positive Plus One even better!

    1. With Positive Boost you can reveal the Member Profiles of everyone who already likes you.

When someone taps the + on your Profile they are added to your ‘Connections’ queue. You will find them on the left hand side with the gold star icon, along with a number signifying how many have already liked you. In standard mode, these people remain hidden and the chances of connecting are dependent on you tapping + on their Profile as well.

    Benefits:
Get a guaranteed connection and start a conversation with anyone who likes you. Save time scrolling through all the potentials and instantly connect with members you know already like your Profile.

    2. You can Power Search by other member’s intent.

All Positive Plus One members state whether they are looking to ‘connect’, ‘date’ or ‘go with the flow’. This feature enables you to refine your search results, for example, to only people looking for dates.

    Benefits:
Find the members you are looking for, and save time by hiding members whose intent is not the same as yours.

  • What is Queue Jump?
  • Usually, to get into another member’s Connection Queue you both have to ‘like’ each other. But if you want to grab someone’s attention, you can use Queue Jump to go straight to the front of their Connection Queue without them having to like you as well. Your Profile is displayed with the Queue Jump icon so they know you’ve made a special effort to grab their attention! If they like you too they’ll send you a message.

    Benefits:
Make the first move, eliminate the chance of them not finding you, start more conversations, make more connections!

  • How do I find more people?
  • To find more members you can modify your Discovery Settings.

If there aren’t any members around you, you’ll be prompted to go to Settings and change your parameters.

To get to Settings when you’re in the app, tap the ‘Profile’ icon in the bottom right of the navigation bar, then hit the ‘Settings’ tab in the top right of your Profile page.

Once you’re on the Settings page you can:

    • + Increase or decrease the maximum distance of members from you
    • + Modify the gender criteria, or just search for everyone
    • + Change the age range
    • + Search by intent (requires upgrading to Positive Boost)
  • How do I change my profile?
  • Tap the ‘Profile’ avatar icon in the bottom right of the navigation bar.

Once you’re in your Profile page you can:

    • + Change your pictures by uploading from Facebook or Camera Roll.
    • + Just tap on an image to change it.
    • + Show or hide your age, home town or current town by toggling the buttons.
    • + You can add age, home town or current town by updating this information from Facebook, simply tap the blue ‘f’ icon under your Profile pictures.
    • + Adjust your height.
    • + Change your intent, show other people what kind of Plus One you are looking for.
    • + Preview your Profile to see how you will be shown to other members. Swipe up to see your Profile text and swipe left or right to see your pictures.
  • What happens if I hide my profile?
  • If you hide your Profile you will no longer be displayed in other member’s search results.

You will still be able to message the people you’ve already connected with, and those who have Queue Jumped or already liked you.*

(*Don’t forget, you need to upgrade to Positive Boost to reveal who has already liked you)

  • Reporting and blocking users
  • If at any time you feel that a Positive Plus One member has shared inappropriate or offensive content, you can report it.

You can use the ‘Report Flag’ when viewing a Profile if you feel the images are inappropriate.

If you have started a conversation and want to report abusive, inappropriate or spam content, you can tap the white ‘Report Flag’ at the top right of the chat.

Alternatively you can swipe left on their Profile in your Conversations list, where you will find the Report Flag.

Here you can also block a Profile by tapping ‘Unmatch’. Doing this removes the messages that have been exchanged and prevents the Profile from seeing yours again.

We will review and respond to reported accounts within 24 hours. If we deem that it has broken the terms of our acceptable use policy, the reported account will be banned.

  • How to meet safely
  • Using the App

Getting to know someone using an app can be a safer experience than face-to-face. It gives you a wider scope of choice and you can remain at a distance until you are ready to meet.

If you’ve never tried it before, or if you are worried by any stories you may have heard, here are a few tips to get you connecting safely online:

    • + Trust your instincts. If something doesn’t feel right, why take a chance. Just say ‘No thanks’ gracefully, if this doesn’t work, just ‘Block’ the user and move on.
    • + Keep it real. Be as honest as you can when creating your Profile, you would not want to be misled so don’t mislead anyone. It’s also very hard to pretend you are 6’2″ when you are really 5’6″!
    • + Post photos, but make sure you cannot identify your family, friends, home or car in them.
    • + Stay in control. Don’t give up any personal information too soon or post personal information publicly on your Profile. If you give away a mobile number, Facebook or Instagram ID, then Members may be able to identify you on other platforms where you have other personal information.
    • + Protect your identity. Use an app that hides your email address and your contact information. Our apps do not give any personal information to other Users. Your Facebook ID and mobile number stay safe.
    • + Avoid any talk of finances. There is no reason why you should ever disclose any financial information to other Members.
    • + If someone asks you for money, even if you have built up a trusting relationship with them, they are almost certainly a scammer.
    • + Be wary of anyone who declares their undying love for you, especially if you have never met them.
    • + Don’t be pressured into giving any information or pictures that you don’t want to and especially into meeting before you are ready.
    • + Don’t be afraid to ask for more details about the person you are talking to.
    • + Think about what you write in your Profile and when chatting. Does it convey the right tone and intention?

    Meeting in person

Here are a few words of advice before meeting up:

    • + Don’t get pushed into meeting up and certainly don’t give your personal contact details unless you are comfortable doing so. Never give out your home or office address unless you are totally confident that you know and can trust the person.
    • + Avoid anyone who talks about sex or finances before you have even met them. Be wary of anyone who declares undying love for you too readily.
    • + When you meet for the first few times, choose a neutral, public location that is easily accessible for you both, and is within view and hearing distance of other people.
    • + Tell someone you trust who you are meeting, where you are going and what time you plan to be there. If your plans change don’t forget to provide an update.
    • + Arrange to ‘check in’ with someone at regular intervals and have a coded way of telling them how it’s going, especially if you need help.
    • + Trust your instincts, if you think something is wrong, you should politely make an excuse and leave.
    • + Never rely on the person you're meeting for transport to or from your meeting place.
    • + Plan your journey home in case you need to leave unexpectedly. Have a taxi number handy if you need one.
    • + If you do have to go home together in a taxi, try to be dropped off last but at least avoid showing them exactly where you live.
    • + Be careful with alcohol so that you remain in control of the situation. If you think your food or drink has been tampered with then don’t consume it.
    • + Make sure you have a fully charged phone that’s able to make contact with others.
    • + Respect that you both may have the same concerns and don’t push them into doing anything they are not comfortable with.
